Drift of the Night
It had been a long, draining day for Mira. She could feel the weight of every moment on her shoulders as she lay down in bed, her body aching from the endless tasks she had faced. As she closed her eyes, she could still hear the echoes of conversations, the rushing footsteps, the constant hum of life that had filled her day.
But now, all of that began to fade.
Outside her window, the soft chirping of crickets filled the night air. Their gentle song was like a reminder that the world was slowing down. The day had done its part, and now, the night was taking over, quiet and calm. The breeze floated in through her slightly open window, cool and refreshing, brushing against her skin like a tender whisper, inviting her to let go of everything.
Mira took a deep breath, feeling the air fill her lungs, then slowly exhaled, letting the tension slip from her body. With every breath, she imagined the stress of the day melting away, dissolving into the night like the fading warmth of the sunset. The crickets sang their song, and the breeze, cool and soothing, seemed to dance with the rhythm of her breath.
Her mind, once racing with thoughts, began to slow. She pictured herself standing in a quiet field, surrounded by tall, swaying grass. The stars above twinkled softly, and the breeze, just like now, carried a gentle peace. There was nothing else to think about, nothing else to do. Just the endless night, the song of the crickets, and the soft, comforting embrace of the breeze.
As her breathing grew deeper, more relaxed, Mira felt herself drifting. Her body grew heavier, sinking deeper into her bed, the cool sheets wrapping her like a cocoon. The crickets played on, their song mixing with the soft rustle of leaves outside. The breeze was steady now, like a lullaby sent from nature itself, coaxing her gently into sleep.
With a final deep breath, Mira let go completely. Her mind floated, her body rested, and slowly, peacefully, she drifted into a sleep so deep, the world outside became nothing more than a soft hum. The crickets’ song and the breath of the breeze carried her away into the dream world, where rest was all she needed. And for the first time all day, she felt at peace.
Lights off😴😴
