Introduction
This Wednesday, WEMA PSYCHOSOL hosted its impactful mental health outreach in Ndumberi, commencing at 11:00 AM. The primary agenda remained addressing substance abuse within the community, with new attendees joining us in this transformative mission. As part of our collaborative efforts, a dedicated team from Guru Nanak Hospital was present, as always, offering free medical consultations, tests, and other essential healthcare services to all participants. The presence of the Guru Nanak team contributed significantly to the holistic care that is central to our initiative, ensuring that both mental and physical well-being are supported.

Opening Session
The event began with a word of prayer, creating a peaceful and unified atmosphere. Attendees were then introduced, establishing a sense of community and belonging among participants. Pastor Perry, our host for the day, shared an encouraging message that emphasized the role of faith in overcoming adversity, setting a positive tone for the remainder of the day.

Youth Testimonials and Program Impact
Several youths shared heartfelt testimonials about the impact of WEMA PSYCHOSOL’s ongoing project in Ndumberi. Many described how their perspectives on life and substance use have changed since they began participating, with newfound hope and determination to overcome personal challenges. The testimonials highlighted the campaign’s success in not only offering therapeutic guidance but also creating a safe and supportive network for individuals seeking to make positive changes.

Distinguished Visitors and Their Engagement
This week’s event was graced by esteemed guests from the Rotary team: Mr. Ken Mulwa, Mrs. Brenda (a Counselling Psychologist), and Mrs. Salome, a lecturer at Ndumberi Vocational Training College. Each visitor shared their insights, emphasizing the importance of mental health advocacy and supporting community initiatives like ours. They each conducted one-on-one sessions with members from the public, providing individualized guidance, encouragement, and further support. The interactions brought out additional testimonials, where participants revealed personal progress and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from WEMA PSYCHOSOL and its partners.

Psychoeducation by Mrs. Jane
Before the CEO’s address, Mrs. Jane took the stage to provide a session on psychoeducation. Her talk centered around maintaining mental sanity amidst life’s challenges, particularly in the face of substance abuse. Through her insights, Mrs. Jane shed light on practical methods to safeguard mental health, offering hope and encouraging resilience among attendees. Her words struck a deep chord, reinforcing the importance of mental well-being and its role in leading a fulfilled life.

Therapy and Healing Sessions
Following Mrs. Jane’s session, Mrs. Josephine, our Counseling Psychologist, led therapeutic exercises designed to foster self-reflection, emotional healing, and resilience. These sessions helped participants begin their personal journeys towards healing, equipped with new strategies for managing emotions and breaking free from dependency.

Meal and Fellowship
After the sessions, attendees enjoyed a meal of Ugali, vegetables, and Matumbo, generously sponsored by Ms. Pauline, our international donor and supporter. This shared meal provided a moment of fellowship, allowing participants to bond over reflections of the day and appreciate the care shown through WEMA PSYCHOSOL’s hospitality.

CEO’s Address
Mr. Hosea Long’iro, the Chief Executive Officer of WEMA PSYCHOSOL, then took to the podium to engage with participants. His address resonated with the testimonials shared earlier, as he highlighted the significance of self-development, finding purpose, and making healthy choices. Mr. Long’iro discussed alternative pathways that participants could take, emphasizing skill-building, technical training, and community support to help them overcome challenges related to substance use. His speech was motivating, practical, and left participants feeling empowered.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, and as participants left, they carried with them a renewed sense of purpose and a clearer path towards a healthier lifestyle.
